Day 1: Athens - Zanzibar, Stone Town
Early morning flight (00.40) to the tropical paradise of Zanzibar, via a stopover. JAMBO - CARIBOU! Arrival at Stone Town (or Stone Town) airport. Transfer to our hotel and check in to rooms. The afternoon is free for rest and first introduction to the capital of the island.
Day 2: Zanzibar, tour of Stone Town
Breakfast and tour of Stone Town with its rich history, buildings of different architectural and cultural influences, cobbled streets and carved balconies. On the tour you will visit the Cathedral, the Slave Market, the Sultan's Palace, the Old Arab Fortress, the Fruit and Vegetable Market, the Forodani Park and walk through the narrow streets famous for their ornate carved wooden doors, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon return to our hotel and free time.
Optional activities:
- Visit a spice garden to learn more about the magical world of herbs
- Meet the infamous Prison Island, formerly used as a quarantine island and slave prison. Today it is a tourist destination with an excellent beach where you can see the giant Aldabra turtles
- Discover the magnificent beaches and underwater seabed of Nakupenda Island
Day 3: Zanzibar - Saadani National Park
Breakfast. Pick up from the hotel at noon and transfer to the airport for the flight to Saadani National Park. Arrival and transfer to Safari Lodge. This is followed by an afternoon wildlife safari with a magical finale with a bush sundowner, specially designed for you to enjoy sunset in the African wilderness. Dinner at the Safari Lodge.
Day 4: Saadani National Park - Zanzibar
Morning safari. After breakfast followed by river safari or wildlife safari and return to the lodge for lunch. Last moments of relaxation at the lodge facilities on the Indian Ocean coast before transfer to the airstrip for the flight back to Zanzibar. Road transfer to your hotel on the beach. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: Zanzibar (free day, optional excursion to Mnemba Atoll).
Breakfast and free day to enjoy your hotel facilities and the beaches of Zanzibar. For snorkeling and underwater diving enthusiasts, the island offers over 30 points of interest where you can enjoy magnificent corals and unique fauna such as stingrays, turtles and whale sharks. The top underwater observation point is the Mnemba Atoll, north-east of Zanzibar. Choose the optional excursion to be captivated by the exotic beauty of the island. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 6: Zanzibar (free day, optional excursion to Jozani National Park)
Breakfast and free day. For kitesurfing enthusiasts, the eastern coast of the island is a real paradise. Alternatively, we recommend visiting Jozani National Park, famous for its endemic species of colobus monkeys. You will admire impressive trees and plants, and discover the magical world of the island's long-lived vegetation by walking along the wooden path. The tour also includes a visit to the Zanzibar Butterfly Centre, where you will see different species up close and learn about their unique life cycle. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 7: Zanzibar (free day, optional water adventure Safari Blue).
Breakfast and free day. Today we propose you the daily water adventure to discover some of the best coastlines of Zanzibar. The cruise departs from the Southeast coast and takes place on traditional wooden dhow boats. With these you will head to three different spots of unique natural and underwater beauty in Zanzibar. Along the way we hope you will have the company of dolphins, which are often seen in the shallow water park of Menai Bay. You will have time to dive with masks and flippers in the crystal clear waters and enjoy the world of coral. On the secluded island of Kwale, you will have a lunch of local and seafood delicacies before returning back to the main island and your hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 8-9: Zanzibar - Athens.
Breakfast and a free day for a final dip in the Indian Ocean and some last minute shopping. In the early afternoon you will be transferred to the island's airport to board your return flight via a stopover. Arrive in Athens at dawn on the 9th day.
